Virb, the next MySpace killer?
March 13th, 2007I know I know, there have been many social networking sites that have tried to get the same attention as MySpace and Facebook, but none of them have really come close, well not from what i’ve seen till now. Meet Virb, the next greatest social site since MySpace :pSo, what is Virb all about? An extract from Virb’s “About Us” page states this:
Virb is a community website that combines social interaction with music and entertainment exploration. It’s a great way to keep in touch and meet people with similar interests. Use Virb to discover music, videos, cool companies and organizations… then share what you find with your friends.
So basicully, MySpace with a few extras, and the awsome power of the behind the scenes team that also created Purevolume.
Virb’s theme is a lot more appealing then MySpace’s and is what i can see, faster, not many ads, and really user friendly, not to mention:
- Flickr Feeds
- Custom Modules
- Hardly any ads (did I mention that before?)
As well as a few good features coming soon, including Blog imports (RSS feeds to your blog)
Well, as far as I can see, Virb has a pretty strong chance of giving old MySpace a run for its money
From an aesthetic standpoint, I would choose VIRB over Myspace any time of the day but one difficulty that I’ve been having is convincing friends to give the new service a trial. Everyone and their mother is already on Myspace and to ask them to migrate is quiet the challenge so for that reason, I prefer Myspace.
Bleagh, I hardly use Myspace so I don’t I’d use Virb that much either. I did sign up at Virb and found the experience to be a lot better. To be honest, I agree with Jorge. Virb’s layout design is just too good for the people that use Myspace. You know…the people who like to have a video here and there. Ooh don’t forget photo slide shows! Wait a minute…how about the glittery text? Yeah I don’t see that happening in Virb…
At the moment i have been using facebook, but even that has its own issues. It’s just hard to get the best of all worlds. Nothings worse than glittery text on a myspace page lol
Yes I think Virb could be the facebook killer (which in turn was the myspace killer), for numerous reasons like you mentioned clean and simple design, flickr integration…(last.fm integration would be nice too)…
What comes to mind though is that no one I know of would know what Virb is…I don’t think it has the momentum that Myspace or facebook had/has. I think Virb will most likely remain the small community that it is now, which in my opinion is just fine.
Also I hear ‘Pownce’ is nice :P
